Simonovskiy business quarter was established in 2015 and partly occupies the territory of former S. M. Kirov Dinamo
Moscow Plant. Since 1897 it was producing equipment for electrified urban transportation, cranes and hoists, excavators, rolling
mills, and oceangoing ships. During the Great Patriotic War the plant manufactured arms and repaired tanks. Some factory
buildings still remain near Simonovskiy quarter, e.g. the Constructivist communal kitchen, and the engineer pavilion in ulitsa Masterkova, 4, which stands on the site of the Lizin pond. When the factory extended, the pond disappeared together with Lizin
tupik, Lizina slobodka, Lizina ploschad and the Lizinskaya railway line. There is an opinion that Nikolay Karamzin described the
Lizin, in those days named the Sergiev, pond in his novel "Poor Liza". "In his leisure hours he wrote a tale which turned everyone`s attention to this area around Simonov monastery. Many Muscovites started coming here in search of Lisa`s grave".
