Историческая справка

On 23 October 1999, on the occasion of the 70th birthday of the unsurpassed goalkeeper, a monument to Lev Yashin was unveiled in Petrovsky Park next to Dynamo Stadium. Its sculptor is Aleksandr Rukavishnikov.
The sculpture called “Goalkeeper — Legend of the Century” embodies the famous Yashin flight for the ball (Yashin had remarkable physical characteristics for a goalkeeper, 189 cm in height and long arms). The Black Spider has gone out on its celestial hunt.
In 1963, Yashin was recognised as the best footballer in Europe, receiving the Ballon d'Or, the most prestigious personal award in football, established by the editor-in-chief of France Football, Gabriel Hanaud. Up until now, he is the only goalkeeper in history to win this prize. Yashin was declared the best goalkeeper of the 20th century. A symbolic club is named after him which includes football goalkeepers of Soviet and Russian clubs, who have kept their goal intact in 100 or more games. It was Yashin who was the first to reach the milestone of 100 clean sheets in the USSR championships.
